We have an impressive 15 year history - from a small IT shop created by our Managing Director, Ashish J. Thakkar, in his school holidays at the age of 15 to what is now an international multi sector business to include Information technology, real estate, financial services, hospitality, energy, packaging, retail and media, spanning four continents.
Mara group is an umbrella company, officially launched in January 2009 to bring together all of our existing companies and is the brand in which our new projects and ventures will be known.
Our group structure reflects our drive to build a solid and diversified platform for expansion, while ensuring integrated operational efficiency. Mara Group has a solid competitive edge with its extensive network in Africa, Middle East, Europe and Asia.
Mara Group has been selected by World Economic Forum¹s Community of Global Growth Companies (GGC) as a dynamic high-growth company in 2010. They believe that Mara Group has the potential to be tomorrow¹s industry leader and a driving force of economic and social change. Ashish J. Thakkar, who heads the Mara Group, has also been asked to participate as a speaker in Africa Leadership Retreat, which takes place in South Africa during the World Cup in July. This will bring together over 70 international business and political leaders to optimise collaboration towards improving the future of the continent and celebrate the first FIFA World Cup in Africa.
